How Skin Numbing Creams May Cause Death

The use of “No more pain” creams are rising nowadays. These creams are considered as local anesthesia or numbing agents that numb your bodies to make them pain-free.

Whether it is Tattoo Removal Laser, needling, piercing, cosmetic surgery, or normal body pain, people worldwide choose these addictive creams today. Just apply the amount advised to the target area, and you don't feel discomfort anymore.

But, all cream comes with some issues. Therefore, excessive use of numbing cream will lead to significant effects, even death.

In January 2009, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released a public health statement stating the ill effects of excessive skin numbing products. In its report, the FDA reported the severe reactions and deaths of women who had used local anesthesia before laser treatment.

Such numbing creams can be purchased without a recommendation. These numbing creams act by suppressing the sensations in the skin. It was made of anesthetics such as lidocaine, tetracaine, benzocaine, and prilocaine in gel, lotion, or cream released into the body.

If misused, numbing cream will trigger:

  • Cardiac arrhythmia

  • Seizures

  • Coma

  • Respiratory problems

  • Death

The FDA observed that women experienced less pain during an ultrasound when sedative was used before the treatment than when using simple gel or oral acetaminophen or ibuprofen.

No severe or dangerous side effects have been reported in the research. The FDA reviewed the test results with a physician who conducted the study.

The research has shown that this local anesthesia does not cause side-effects if used in the correct amount & the right manner. It is also necessary to use such creams to treat different skin problems in humans.

Here are some tips to follow if local anesthesia is prescribed for you:

  • Contact the health care provider about its adverse effects and minimize the risk of sedative medicines causing life-threatening side effects.

  • Use a Revolax Lip Filler containing the least strength and the lowest volume of drugs to alleviate the discomfort

  • Apply the anesthetic cautiously and only to areas where discomfort occurs or else is likely to cause problems.

  • Do not apply local anesthetic abundantly to large skin areas.

  • Never use additives, which are more diluted than required.

  • Never apply such lotions to infected or damaged skin.

  • Never wrap the infected skin with adhesive film. Packing or wrapping infected skin with any material can lead to life-threatening side effects.

  • Do not apply heat to the skin treated with numbing creams. As the temperature of the skin increases, the amount of anesthesia affecting the bloodstream becomes uncontrolled. Increased levels of these numbing creams, including lidocaine in the blood, can lead to dangerous risks.

If you are thinking of trying numbing creams before any skin procedure, you must first speak to a doctor. Your physicians will decide whether effective treatment can be obtained successfully by anesthetics or whether a different treatment will be more suitable depending on the type of skin treatment.
